Cada vez nos suena m\u00e1s su nombre y parece que es la responsable de muchos de los <strong>problemas de salud <\/strong>que tenemos hoy en d\u00eda. Sin embargo, la histamina no es mala en s\u00ed misma. Es cierto que es uno los responsables de los signos y s\u00edntomas relacionados con las <strong>alergias<\/strong> o cuando sufrimos una <strong>intoxicaci\u00f3n alimentaria<\/strong>, pero animales y plantas, producimos histamina para poder mantenernos vivos. Cumple muchas funciones como, por ejemplo, participa en la regulaci\u00f3n del <strong>sistema inmunitario<\/strong>, act\u00faa como neurotransmisor y nos ayuda a <strong>dormir<\/strong> y favorece el peristaltismo intestinal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Animales y plantas producen <strong>histamina<\/strong> y cuando se convierten en nuestros alimentos, su histamina entrar\u00e1 en nuestro organismo junto con los <strong>nutrientes<\/strong>. La histamina ex\u00f3gena, esa que entra en nuestro organismo a trav\u00e9s de los <strong>alimentos<\/strong>, no tiene ninguna funci\u00f3n ni beneficio para nosotros, de hecho, si es absorbida favorecer\u00e1 la aparici\u00f3n de distintas enfermedades o molestias. Hay que eliminarla y para hacerlo tenemos a nivel intestinal una <strong>enzima<\/strong>, <strong>DAO<\/strong> o <strong>diaminooxidasa<\/strong>. La DAO metaboliza, transforma la histamina de modo que sea eliminada por orina. No pasar\u00e1 a nuestro torrente sangu\u00edneo, no habr\u00e1 histamina en exceso en sangre y, en consecuencia, no provocar\u00e1 problemas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hasta aqu\u00ed todo va bien, pero hay ciertas personas que sufren un <strong>d\u00e9ficit gen\u00e9tico de la actividad de la DAO<\/strong>, <strong>no pueden metabolizar la histamina<\/strong> que entrar\u00e1 en el organismo, acumul\u00e1ndose gradualmente en distintos lugares del cuerpo y ocasionando diferentes molestias. Tambi\u00e9n hay situaciones derivadas de <strong>enfermedades gastrointestinales<\/strong>, durante la <strong>menstruaci\u00f3n<\/strong> o por el <strong>consumo de<\/strong> <strong>alcohol<\/strong> en las que la actividad de la DAO se ve afectada favoreciendo o empeorando estas molestias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A lo mejor, sufres de <strong>migra\u00f1a<\/strong> y <strong>problemas en la piel<\/strong> y despu\u00e9s de muchos tratamientos y terapias, el <strong>dolor<\/strong> y los <strong>eccemas<\/strong> no remiten. Tambi\u00e9n puede ser que tengas <strong>problemas gastrointestinales<\/strong> y te hayan diagnosticado <strong>fibromialgia<\/strong>. O tengas s\u00edntomas similares a los de una <strong>alergia<\/strong>, con estornudos, lagrimeo, <strong>congesti\u00f3n nasal <\/strong>e incluso <strong>asma<\/strong>, y las pruebas de la alergia han salido negativas. En este tipo de situaciones, es muy probable que sufras de d\u00e9ficit de actividad DAO, tienes DAO, pero no funciona correctamente o a lo mejor la cantidad de\u00a0\u00a0histamina de tu organismo es tan alta, que tu DAO no puede controlarla. Tu cuerpo es <strong>incapaz de transformar la histamina<\/strong> de los alimentos y eliminarla, as\u00ed que se acumular\u00e1 provoc\u00e1ndote molestias y problemas con diferentes <strong>s\u00edntomas e intensidad.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para mejorar y controlar esta situaci\u00f3n, una dieta baja en histamina, al menos en las primeras fases, es fundamental para regular los niveles en sangre. La <strong>dieta<\/strong> debe limitar la cantidad de pescados azules, mariscos, embutidos y quesos curados, conservas y alimentos procesados, ciertas frutas y verduras como las fresas, c\u00edtricos, aguacates, tomate, el alcohol, etc.&nbsp;&nbsp;De este modo, se ayudar\u00e1 al organismo a la <strong>eliminaci\u00f3n del exceso de histamina<\/strong> circulante y a la entrada de nueva histamina alimentaria. Por otro lado, la <strong>suplementaci\u00f3n con DAO<\/strong> ex\u00f3gena es de <strong>gran ayuda<\/strong> en estas situaciones.
