Tired legs
A sedentary lifestyle and obesity can cause and aggravate the feeling of heaviness in one's legs.
The venous circulatory system is made up of veins that carry blood from different tissues to the heart. To carry out this return of blood, the veins have valves inside that allow the passage of blood only in the direction of the heart.
When there is a problem with circulation and the blood does not reach the heart efficiently from the lower extremities, it accumulates in the tissues –especially in the legs– and causes the superficial veins to dilate and varicose veins to form.
“This alteration is very common and can have a great impact on the individual, due to the discomfort it brings about. Females are more likely to suffer from this type of condition. In addition, factors such as working on your feet or sitting for long hours, obesity, having a sedentary lifestyle without physical activity, age, and genetic predisposition can contribute to the problem and lead to the appearance of heaviness, tiredness, tightness, tingling, discomfort, swelling , night cramps, and the presence of visible venous capillaries under the skin and varicose veins in the legs. These signs reduce our quality of life; that’s why it’s important to pay attention to them to prevent them from getting worse,
especially in the current times in which we live.”
