Throat

Our throat serves as the conduit for food and water to the esophagus, and for air to the larynx. This means that it is a very important part of the body that, if altered, could make it uncomfortable to perform day-to-day activities.

Since it is a gateway into the body, the throat is not only in contact with water, food and air, but also with various substances that alter its physiology, causing irritation, swelling and discomfort.

A sore throat is extremely common since this is one of the most common symptoms of a cold or flu. It also happens to be particularly bothersome because actions such as speaking or eating become quite uncomfortable.
