Mechanism of action:

Cough is a physiological defense mechanism of our body. Its aim is to facilitate the expulsion of foreign substances and secretions caused by infections in the respiratory tract. That’s why it is a good idea to regulate the cough mechanism while respecting its important function.

PhysioTuss® Low Glycemic Index (GI) is a 100% natural and preservative-free syrup that has been formulated to treat any cough, both dry and wet coughs. It is especially indicated for people with glucose intolerance.

Its exclusive formula based on natural extracts of Althaea officinalis and broadleaf plantain, with honey and essential oils from lemon and eucalyptus to complete its formulation, gives it a fresh and pleasant flavor.

PhysioTuss® Low GI forms a protective barrier on the mucous membranes of the pharynx thanks to the action of xanthan gum, which protects the throat from contact with irritating agents and pathogenic microorganisms, relieving irritation and keeping everything hydrated and lubricated.

Likewise, PhysioTuss® Low GI hydrates and reduces the viscosity of mucus to favor its expulsion, thanks to the action of the sugars naturally present in the carob and apple extract, which stimulate salivation and increase the water content in mucus to make it more fluid.

The glycemic index (GI) is based on the body’s response to glucose after consuming carbohydrates, compared to the response to a glucose solution. The carob and apple extract in PhysioTuss® Low GI syrup has a complex composition of carbohydrates such as fructose, glucose, inositols (non-laxative polyols), and soluble fiber, providing a lower glycemic index (41-42) in comparison with glucose (100).

Thus, PhysioTuss® Low GI soothes, hydrates, and protects the upper respiratory tract, allowing for a complete solution to both dry and wet coughs.
